dropping knowledge is an intercultural platform for multiple viewpoints, open to every citizen of the world. We think that the exchange of ideas, insights, values and opinions by free voices around the world can create a foundation of wisdom that grows, inspires and benefits us all.

We live in a world of complexity and contradiction that is becoming increasingly interdependent, moving towards a global society. dropping knowledge seeks to reflect as many viewpoints from around the world as possible. We want to get insights into the views and experiences of diverse communities. It is our aim to preserve, expand and share our collective knowledge.

dropping knowledge documents the current global mindset with its diversity in culture, religion, gender and generation. We want to find out about our common global concerns and define cross-cultural values for the benefit of all.

dropping knowledge partners with international polling research firms to take a snapshot of global public opinion regarding the most pressing issues of our time. Based on profound statistical methods the great diversity of issues is organized according to a set of values.Through interactive media, events and a living library we generate debate, enable people to participate in defining and prioritizing issues and facilitate the exchange of solutions.

On September 9, 2006, 112 intellectuals, artists, activists and others renowned for their contributions to society will meet in Berlin to answer the top 100 questions generated beforehand by dropping knowledge's "What's your question?" campaign.

Seated around a huge round table, a representation of interconnection and continuity, each participant will simultaneously respond into camera and microphone. The participants will answer each one of the hundred questions according to their special fields of expertise as well as their personal opinions and cultural backgrounds.

Recorded as single audio visual portraits these individual responses build the foundation of further components of dropping knowledge.

Knowledge is only valuable if it is accessible

The dropping knowledge archive consists of 672 hours of recorded and transcribed film material, freely accessible for all web-users. They will be able to read, listen to or screen any portion of dropping knowledge's content. The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) created an intelligent question answering system utilizing the newest language, knowledge, and web technologies for transparent content presentation, search and navigation. The system will enable the users to obtain information and receive answers to their individual questions.

Through the implementation of a resource-based economy, and a multitude of innovative and environmentally friendly technologies directly applied to the social system, The Venus Project proposals will dramatically reduce crime, poverty, hunger, homelessness, and many other pressing problems that are common throughout the world today.

One of the cornerstones of the organization's findings is the fact that many of the dysfunctional behaviors of today's society stem directly from the dehumanizing environment inherent in the existing monetary system.

The Venus Project proposes a social system in which automation and technology would be intelligently applied and integrated into an overall social design where the primary function would be to maximize the quality of life rather than profits.

The ancient Greeks said, "Tell me who you admire and I'll tell you who you are."

According to this logic, choosing heroes is important because who you choose often determines the character of a person and a people.

We are in need of heroes more than ever. Collectively and individually we continue to be a people in search of sages; anxious and eager to find people worthy of our love and loyalty.

Choosing the wrong kind of heroes sets in motion a negative energy more powerful than nuclear fission. It can split the nucleus of the human family and set off a veritable chain reaction of sexism, racism, hate, violence, greed, jealousy, resentment and corruption.

In today's culture we have substituted celebrities for heroes; celebrities from whom we expect little and sometimes get less.

Real heroes strive for the imperishable trophies. Their rules and goals are different. They live and work in the world, but they embrace the eternal values of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. While fame, fortune, and power may come their way, attaining them is not their goal.

Heroes can be found in the daily stuff of life, from parents to teachers, from counselors to that unexpected angel who helps you change a tire during a dark and rainy night.
